A Look Into Lab Tests

At Personal Concierge Physicians we are committed to offering our patients the highest quality of care. Not only do we pride ourselves in having a supportive, caring, and competent team, but we also stay on top of all cutting-edge technology and advancements in health.

As most of our patients already know, we perform in-depth physicals once a year on all our patients. Part of the physical includes a lab review.

While we perform the “typical” labs, we also have thoughtfully included more in-depth panels that have proven to be even more predictive of our body’s well-being as well as preventative.

Here are some of the specialized labs we may include in your yearly check-up:

A very good and critical biomarker for gauging your risk for a heart attack is Apolipoprotein B (APoB). ApoB is considered the taxi driver of cholesterol. It drives cholesterol around your body and delivers it into your arteries. Too many taxi drivers are a problem and can increase your risk of heart disease. It’s possible to lower your ApoB in just months with proper diet and exercise.

Lipoprotein (a) (Lp(a)) is a type of sticky cholesterol that clings to your arteries and contributes to plaque buildup which can lead to a heart attack or stroke. Lp(a) is linked to your genetics but may be modifiable. Statin drugs have little effect on Lp(a), but through proper diet, exercise, and supplements it is possible to improve it.

Homocysteine: an amino acid that gives you information about methylation processes in your body. B6, Folate, and B12 regulate homocysteine levels and low levels may indicate a greater risk of heart disease, blood clots, depression, infertility, and more. If your homocysteine level is elevated, we can address that with the right mix of B-vitamin supplementation.

Hs-CRP: High sensitivity C-reactive protein can predict chronic inflammation before it becomes a serious problem. It’s the body’s smoke detector. It is the key to finding the cause of inflammation in your body and can help prevent inflammatory diseases like cardiovascular disease and diabetes from forming (if intervened and modified). Inflammation is the #1 cause of chronic disease and aging.

Glutathione is an ultra-powerful antioxidant found in every cell in the body that helps protect the body from disease. Some functions include counteracting free radicals, improving insulin sensitivity, reducing cell damage in liver disease, and more. One of the best ways to increase glutathione levels is through IV access.

After evaluating your personal, social, and familial health history, your Personal Concierge doctor will order labs specifically designed for YOU!
